Mallo 1.2.0
Mallo 1.2.0 brings stronger multilingual dictation, a cleaner models experience, and managed Qwen setup on macOS.
Mallo 1.2.0 is the first changelog backfill release for the new changelog system. It collects the work we shipped after 1.1.1 and turns it into a cleaner, more capable dictation app.
Release Highlights
- Managed Qwen setup means Qwen can be installed from inside Mallo instead of through a manual Python workflow.
- Parakeet support adds a strong multilingual path for users who want more than Whisper-only choices.
- Model management cleanup makes the models page easier to scan and easier to trust.
What Changed In Daily Use
The biggest day-to-day change is that Mallo now feels more intentional around speech models. Better models are easier to discover, Qwen is treated like a real first-class option, and the tray plus diagnostics flows are less noisy.
That adds up to less setup friction and less second-guessing before you start dictating.
Why This Release Matters
Version 1.2.0 is where multilingual dictation stopped feeling like an experiment and started feeling like a product direction. It sets up the next phase: better onboarding, better recommendations, and more polished local-first voice workflows on macOS.
